Flora Building in Hoxton is not your standard student block. Set on LongStreet in East London, the scheme was designed around holistic wellbeing,with bright interiors, natural materials, and a more design-led approach tostudent living than the usual “desk, bed, done” formula. HG Constructiondelivered the project, with Ideal Interiors shaping the fit-out concept and abiophilic design approach running through the building.

Project OVERVIEW

A Student Scheme That Did Not Want to Feel Like One

Flora Building is a seven-storey student accommodation scheme at 11-13 Long Street, Hoxton, offering a mix of studios and shared apartments in a building designed to feel modern, bright, and wellbeing-focused. HG Construction was the main contractor, and the interior concept was developed by Ideal Interiors around natural colour, light, and comfort.

On a project like this, the paintwork could not feel basic. The whole building was designed to feel calm, light, and premium, which meant the finish had to support that from the start.

OUR APPROACH

Wellness Design Does Notice the Walls

When a building is designed around wellbeing, natural tones, and biophilic interiors, the paintwork stops being background noise. It becomes part of the atmosphere.

Walls That Did Not Kill the Mood

The painting package had to support a softer, more considered interior feel, helping the rooms and shared spaces look calm, bright, and clean rather than harsh or flat.

Hoxton Light Shows Everything

Bright interiors and big windows have a habit of exposing every inconsistency, which meant the finish had to hold up properly in natural light, not only under handover lighting.

Student Living, Minus the Cheap Feel

Flora Building was clearly aiming above the usual student accommodation standard, and the paintwork had to match that ambition across bedrooms, shared areas, and circulation spaces.

Across the building, the aim stayed simple: make the finish feel like part of the design, not an afterthought.
